Lesotho fire Ghana World Cup warning

Lesotho coach Leslie Notsi has fired a big warning to both Ghana and Zambia not to take his team lightly when the 2014 World Cup qualifiers begin in June.

Lesotho, who are in Group D with the Black Stars, Zambia and Sudan, staged a return to competitive action  in November after a two-year self-imposed exile from full international football.

They kick off their qualifying campaign away to the Black Stars on June 1. Notsi told MTNFootball.com that Lesotho were not in the Group D qualifiers just to make up the numbers.

"We are not just an easy team and we will give every team their run for their money," said Notsi, who led Lesotho to a credible showing at the 2011 African Youth Championship in South Africa.

"If they take our team lightly, they are in for a surprise."

Lesotho advanced to Group D after beating Burundi 3-2 on aggregate following a 2-2 away draw in Bujumbura and a 1-0 home win in Maseru.

However, Notsi admitted that being in a group comprising the Black Stars, Zambia and Sudan is a daunting challenge.

"We have a daunting task," he said.  "For us to play against the like of Ghana and Zambia, it is a big challenge.

"We are looking forward to as a growing nation and we need to be playing the likes of Sudan, Ghana and Zambia in order to develop."
