Lingard and West Ham squad throw eggs and flour over Mark Noble on his birthday

As a Premier League captain on your birthday, perhaps you would expect several shiny apples from squad members looking to impress you.

Not so Mark Noble.

The West Ham legend, who has 525 appearances for the east London club, was instead pelted with eggs and flour on a rowing machine by his fellow squad members on his 34th birthday.

A hilarious video shared on Instagram by team-mate Jesse Lingard showed the whole caper, with the Hammers players surrounding Noble's machine as he completes a training exercise.

Lingard flashes a bag of flour in front of the camera, with Noble completely unaware. As the captain finishes his rowing task, he is hit square in the face with an egg.

Noble then falls off the rower before being deluged in the flour, with the West Ham players dissolving into raucous laughter at the sight of their prone captain.

To his credit, Noble then leaps to his feet and begins dancing to Queen's 'Another one bites the dust', which is playing in the background, to the continued adulation of his team-mates.

Lingard later shared a photo of him standing with Noble with the caption: 'Happy birthday legend'.

Whether that will be enough to keep Noble from seeking revenge on Lingard, it remains to be seen.

But with Lingard scoring nine goals in 12 games since his loan move to West Ham in January, manager David Moyes will hope any act of retribution has no lasting impact on the Manchester United forward.
