Heart of Lions coach Hans Van der Plyum insists striker Ahmed Toure does not deserve to be adjudged the Premier League best player for last season.

The Asante Kotoko Ivorian import beat off competition from Gladson Awako and Emmanuel Clottey to win the top prize at last weekend's Premier League Board's Awards night.

But the decision to confer the top prize on a player who featured just 13 times in the season has been heavily criticized and the Dutchman insists the PLB got it wrong.

"He is a good player and did his best last season but how many matches did he play for him to get such a prestigious award? he asked

''Let be truthful to ourselves and understand that you can play half a season and adjudged to be the best. It simply doesn’t work that way. I think the organizers got it wrong on that one.''

The name of New Edubiase captain Abubakar Mummuni who played all matches in the season was conspicuously missing from the three-man shortlist.
