Hearts thump All Stars to overtake AshGold in Premier League

Hearts of Oak beat All Stars 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to leapfrog AshantiGold in the Glo Premier League.

The Phobians profited from a soft penalty in the 32nd minute after Uriah Asante appeared to have slipped in the penalty box.

Referee Reginald Larthbridge who had rightfully turned down an earlier spot kick for Hearts amazingly caved into supporters pressure to award the penalty which was expertly taken by Laryea Kingston.

James Abban who had come on for the injured Uriah Asante popped up on the stroke of halftime to score Hearts' second on the day.

The visitors who dropped valuable points last week at home to Wassaman upped their performance in the second half but their profligacy in front of goal proved their biggest undoing.

Their relative pressure emerged meaningless as Sadat Karim's impressive volley from outside the penalty area capped a wonderful performance for the Phobians who have now managed back-to-back wins in the continued revolution under ex Black Stars captain C.K Akunnor.

Hearts are now second on the Glo Premier League standings with AshantiGold yet to play against Berekum Chelsea who are away on Caf champions League duty.
