LIVE UPDATES: 2019/20 Ghana Premier League Week 2- (Match Center)
Preview: Ghana Premier League returns this weekend

Follow the Live updates from all the league centers on match day two games of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

Medeama vs Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak will be desperate to avoid defeat when they travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama in the top-liner of Match Day-2 of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians are anxious to record their first win of the campaign after a sorry 1-0 defeat at home to Berekum Chelsea in the season's opening match.

The Accra giants travel to the mining town with interim coach Edward Odoom following the sacking of director of football and head coach Kim Grant.

There has been massive uproar in the team in the wake of the team's opening day slip against the Blues in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

Interim boss Edward Nii Odoom must inspire confidence as his charges make the long journey to Tarkwa to battle the Mauve and Yellows.

Pressure is already building for the visitors after just a game and will need to conspire magic to turn the scale in their favour.

If results go the wrong way, Hearts will be plunged into the relegation zone and put the interim manager's job prospect looking grim.

The flip side is that a win over the fourth-placed team could be the springboard to turn fortunes around.

However, its a massive game for the Phobians who have won just once in a league match in Tarkwa in nine attempts.

Medeama should be in a confident mood after recording an impressive 3-1 win at Ebusua Dwarfs in their opening league match last week.

Team News

Medeama will be without injured midfield duo Eric Kwakwa and Rashid Nortey, defender Bright Enchil as well as striker Kalibo Toussaint.

Kwasi Donsu and Ibrahim Yaro could return against Hearts after missing the trip to Ebusua Dwarfs.

Hearts of Oak have no major injury worries with coach Edward Odoom in a position to choose from a fully fit squad.

Captain Fatawu Mohammed is available for selection as well as star man Joseph Esso.

Opta stats

Hearts of Oak's only away win against Medeama came in a Match Day 2 fixture under Kenichi Yatsuhashi in 2016.

Hearts won 2-0 with Eric Kumi and Cosmos Cauda getting on the scoresheet.

Medeama SC are in search of back to back wins for the first time since July 2017 when they beat Great Olympics and Tema Youth.

Elmina Sharks vs Karela United

Both teams are coming off the back of defeats on match day 1 of the Ghana Premier League, after Elmina Sharks lost on the road to Bechem United with Karela United suffering a home loss to WAFA.

Elmina Sharks are returning to their favourite Papa Kwesi Ndoum Park, a place they will fancy their first victory of the season.

Despite losing their number goalie Richard Arthur to Hearts of Oak, the Elmina based club have rather extended contracts of some of their best players including Benjamin Tweneboah, who is expected to be a torn in the defence Karela on Sunday.

In place of Richard Arthur, the club brought in Lord Bawa from Proud United and other players to join are Rapheal Ocloo, Henry Nana Afankwa and Timothy Atipo.

Meanwhile, Karela United kept in-demand forward Diawisie Taylor for the 2019/20 season after reports of moves abroad.

Taylor would be complimented by the arrivals of Abega Ofotsu but the Anyinase based club has been weakened by the departures of Solomon Taylor and Osei Baffour.

Elmina Sharks coach Yaw Acheampong will be hoping the home fans will come out in their numbers to support his team in one of the highly fancied games in the GPL.

Prediction:

Elmina Sharks 2-1 Karela United

Great Olympics vs Aduana

Great Olympics will look to quickly bounce back to winning ways when they host Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Dade Boys’ return to the Ghanaian top-flight was met with fire and brimstone at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium when AshantiGold walloped them 3-0 last Sunday.

Olympics will be poised to quickly put smiles on their faithful by returning to winning ways when they host Aduana Stars on Matchday Two.

It will be the fifth time the two clubs are meeting in the Ghana Premier League.

Aduana have always had the upper hand on their opponents — having won three and drawn one out of the four games played between the two sides.

The last match played between the two teams at the Accra Sports Stadium ended 2-1 in favour of the Dormaa-based outfit.

The bookmakers have touted Aduana Stars to continue their ruthless display in the league by walking over Olympics in Accra.

Aduana Stars will be brimming with confidence ahead of the encounter after starting the season with aplomb — hammering Inter Allies 4-0 at home.

The Fire Boys will hope to see star forward Yahaya Mohammed keep up his red-hot form in the game after bagging a hat-trick in the win against Inter Allies.

But having enjoyed three consecutive wins at home during the final fixtures of the 2017 Ghana League campaign, Olympics have proved to be unpredictable hence they cannot be written off when playing in front of their vociferous home crowd.

Aduana Stars sit at the summit of the league standings with three points — same as seven teams but with superior goal difference while Olympics are languishing in 17th position.
