Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has explained axing Emre Can for victory over Tottenham.

Klopp has explained why he axed Can in favour of Gini Wijnaldum in Liverpool's last match against Spurs.

Klopp said: “It was not the easiest decision of my life because it was not too long ago that Emre was outstanding against Chelsea.

“But in this game Gini showed a really good combination of an aggressive, defensive midfielder plus a creative, offensive midfield player.

“We then have all of them available at a high level and I have to take the decision.

“Gini has been really good for us and has formed a good partnership with Jordan Henderson. It felt good."
