English giants Liverpool have staked their interest in signing talented Ghanaian youngster Christian Atsu from FC Porto, according to reports from Portugal.

Officials of the Reds are scheduled to hold talks with Porto officials for transfer talks.

On Monday, it emerged Merseyside rivals Everton have been monitoring the progress of the 20-year-old.

Atsu spent last season on loan at Rio Ave where he was named the club's Player of the Year.

"Liverpool are very much interested and I think they will try to talk to Porto and see," a source close to the player told MTNFootball.com

Atsu netted six times in 26 appearances for Rio Ave in the Portuguese top-flight.
