Liverpool make offer for Inter outcast

Liverpool have made a bid to sign Andrea Ranocchia from Inter in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old previously turned down the possibility of a move to Norwich City although he would be happy enough move to Merseyside after making just the one Serie A start in the 2015-16 season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have tabled a bid worth €9 million which Ranocchia is seriously considering although he would prefer to stay in Italy with Torino also interested.

The Reds are in serious need of a centre-back following injuries to Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel.

The Italy international is keen to get his future sorted as soon as possible since falling down the pecking order at Inter.

Roberto Mancini’s Nerazzurri will likely look for another defender to add depth should Ranocchia leave although Nemanja Vidic remains part of the squad despite not having made a single appearance in the 2015-16 campaign thanks to injury.

Ranocchia was a key member of the Biscione’s 2014-15 squad as he made 32 starts as club captain before losing the armband to Mauro Icardi and being relegated to the bench.
