Local Black Stars seeded for CHAN draw

Ghana will be seeded for the draw of the 2011 African Nations Championship which takes place on Saturday in Khartoum.

The local Black Star, losing finalists at last year's maiden edition in Ivory Coast, and Senegal, semi-finalists, will be placed in the level 1 teams and will be the top seeded teams of Groups B and D.

A draw will then be done to determine which of these two countries shall be awarded the letter B1 and which one will have the letter D1.

Hosts Sudan shall be the top seeded team of Group A and DR Congo, holders, will be the top seeded team of Group C.

The remaining twelve countries will be categorized into three hats according to the following criteria in order of priority:

-Results in the first edition CHAN 2009

- Zonal Separation as determined by Caf statutes.

Caf will also take into account the Fifa ranking of the national teams in order to determine their respective levels:

On this basis the hats number two, three and four will respectively be as follows:

- Pot  two : Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Tunisia and Zimbabwe

- Pot three: Angola, Cameroun, Gabon and South Africa

- Pot four : Mali, Niger, Rwanda and Uganda

The tournament takes places from 4-25 February, 2011.
