Locally based players axed from Ghana squad ahead of Mali friendly- Sources

Ghana coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor is expected to name his squad for the upcoming friendly against Mali without any locally-based player included in the team.

Ghana takes on Mali on October 9 in Turkey as part of preparations ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.

The suspension of football activities on the domestic scene due to the coronavirus pandemic for close to six months will see no locally-based player on the domestic scene earning a call up to Akonnor' s squad according to sources gathered by GHANAsoccernet bearing any last-minute changes.

The long break on the domestic scene has been factored as the reason for the exclusion.

Akonnor is likely to rely on the foreign-based players for the match against the West African side next month.

The Black Stars coach is expected to announce his squad soon.
