Renan Lodi has earned the trust of Diego Simeone over the course of his first season as an Atletico Madrid player.
Despite the red card he received on his debut against Getafe, the Brazilian has made the left-back spot his own ahead of Mario Hermoso.
Lodi has impressed both with his attacking play and his ability to adapt quickly to Simeone's style of play.
As a result, he's seen as the perfect replacement for Filipe Luis in the position following the veteran's departure last summer.
There were times earlier in the season where El Cholo preferred to play Saul at left-back, but Lodi has started each of Atletico's last eight matches.
When Los Rojiblancos resume their LaLiga Santander campaign against Athletic Club on June 14, the 22-year-old will be looking to build on what he has already achieved this season.
He'll need to be at the top of his game too, seeing as he's the only player in the squad without a natural replacement in his position.
