Lucky Stephen Appiah feels elated by Showbiz Honour

Stephen Appiah has described himself as ‘lucky’ after being named this year’s Showbiz Honouree.

The former Ghana captain is being recognized for using his world class status to improve the living conditions of people in deprived communities.

The 31-year-old is also being awarded for leading the Black Stars to two consecutive Fifa World Cup finals in 2006 in Germany and in South Africa 2010 respectively.

Appiah who hanged up his international boots after the 2010 World Cup however counts himself lucky to be selected amongst the midst of other deserving Ghanaian celebrities for the award.

“I want to thank you all for the resect and all the love that you have shown,” he said.

“Today it is Stephen Appiah tomorrow is going to be someone else because I know our actresses, our footballers, the musicians they are doing a lot.

“I call myself a lucky guy being here today and I thank you all. Big things are going to happen.”

Appiah will receive the honour at a planned ceremony at the State Banquet Hall on December 24.

He will receive a cash prize of Ghc 20,000, a one-year office paid sponsorship for his foundation,  an honourary plaque and an all paid weekend get away with his wife.

Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari emerged the maiden honouree last year.
