Spain head coach, Luis Enrique, gave his thoughts on Italy, Spain's rival in the final four of the Nations League, which will be played in October 2021.

Spain boss Luis Enrique has admitted he doesn't know a lot about next year's Nations League opponents Italy. Spain will play the Italians in October 2021, in the semi-final of the Nations League, three months after the European Championships.

Italy

"I do not know Italy in depth because we have not yet played against them, but they are a team that have improved a lot and we must add that they could be a rival in the European Championships, not only in the Nations League."

De Gea

"I have not spoken with De Gea. What worries and interests me is the performance and behavior of the players in each Spain squad."

Spain

"The Nations League is a long way away, but we are excited. It would be wonderful to lift a trophy. I am in favour of the Nations League because it eliminates friendlies and it is a great success."

Germany

"In general, the game against Germany was very complete. In attack, we did well, but there is still a long way to go. We had more possession many chances to score. But we must not exaggerate it either. Germany are still a powerhouse and cannot be judged on just one game."

Gabriel Paulista

"Gabriel Paulista is good news as a coach because the more players to choose from, the better."

Ranking

"The best team is number 1 in the FIFA rankings, Belgium and France, and I think they are above Italy."

Tassotti

"I have no special motivation to play against Italy. I have already spoken several times with Tassotti, which is already in the past. It was a part of my history, and the hard times also hurt you."

Receiving support

"People offer me praise and when I'm on the street fans cheer me on, but I know that I am subject to results."

Champions League

"It does not depend on me that the Spanish teams stay in the Champions League, but it would be good for the morale of the players that we have."

Identity

"The national team has a very clear idea. We have an identity, but there is still a lot to improve on. But we can be proud after this qualifying round."

Maradona

"Maradona has been the reference for my generation. He was unique and capable of winning a World Cup practically alone, although with a group that helped him. Maradona marked an era. I had the fortune of playing against him when he was at Sevilla, and the memory that I have of him is great."
