Madrid tabling an €80m bid to sign Man Utd & Bayern target Havertz (Bild)

Real Madrid were planning to make a move for Kai Havertz before the coronavirus pandemic stopped them in their tracks.

The Bayer Leverkusen forward has been one of the Bundesliga's standout players since the league returned to action in May.

According to Bild, Real Madrid were tabling an 80 million euro bid to sign the 20-year-old this summer and to then leave him one further year at the Bay Arena on loan.

However, the German newspaper also reports that Bayer Leverkusen were not interested in this bid because they believe they can fetch more than 100m euros for the player in the neat future.

Havertz's contract at Bayer Leverkusen expires in 2022 and the club plan to wait until Euro 2021 to see the player's value increase.

For the moment, Bayern Munich remain interested, but their pursuit of the German international has been delayed by the pandemic.
