Asante Kotoko want to sign Hearts striker Mahatma Otoo

Asante Kotoko claim their move to sign striker Mahatma Otoo was informed by a hint from the player’s camp he is willing to join the Reds.

The Ghana Premier League champions will be meeting the Hearts of Oak captain in the coming days to offer him a bumper contract.

The yet-to-be-capped Ghana international is out of contract with the Phobians at the end of the season.

This makes him eligible to open negotiations with any club of his choice over a fresh contract as per the FIFA rules regarding player transfers.

Any player with at least six months left on his existing deal is free to speak to any interested party over a fresh deal.

An official of Kotoko who are determined to sign the captain of their arch rivals now says their desire to capture Otoo is being fueled by information close to the player which suggests he is ready to join the Porcupine Warriors.

“Kotoko as a professional club have only moved to notify Hearts of its intent to open talks with Mahatma Otoo,” Kotoko’s Communications Team member Nana Kwame Dankwah told Accra-based Hot FM.

“We will not relent on our efforts to sign him (Otoo) and our quest is even enforced by information emanating from a source close to the player that he is willing to join Kotoko.”

The revelations made by the Kotoko official is likely to enrage the Hearts of Oak fans who believe the Kumasi-based club is only interested in unsettling their captain by turning his head.

Otoo has been in good goalscoring form and is the current leading marksman in the Ghana Premier League.
