Ten teams will be competing in Ghana's first ever Beach Soccer League to kickoff this Saturday.

This was made public at a brief launch in Accra on Wednesday where the giant trophy and other incentives for participating teams was unveiled.

The event was also used as the official signing ceremony of a 2-year-deal between the Ghana Beach Soccer Association and Cal Bank, the league's headline sponsor.

The groundbreaking sponsorship deal worth 40,000 per anum Ghana cedis comes at a crucial time where sponsorship for sporting activities in the country have become extremely scarce.

"We believe the timely sponsorship deal helps raise the profile of the sport, the support base and infrastructure in the country," the bank's Head of Risk and Compliance Department, Jaqueline Brenya said at the launch.

“We are proud to be associated with this momentous event of which we are sponsoring for two years and providing other promotional items.”

The ten teams to do battle for the prestigious accolade of the first beach soccer league winners to be held at the Labadi Beach Resort include; Dansoman Beach Soccer Club (BSC), East Legon Sharks (BSC), Havedzi (BSC), Keta Sunset (BSC) and Layoca (BSC).

The rest are; Osu Dolphins (BSC), Senya Bereku Sharks (BSC), Tegbi Youth (BSC), Wuo Gbee (BSC) and Ada Assurance (BSC).
