Maitland-Niles ready for Arsenal exit this month to boost flagging Euros hopes

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is ready to go out on loan this month to bolster his chances of making England's Euros squad.

England boss Gareth Southgate has made it clear to all of his players they must be playing regularly to stand any hope of being picked this summer.

Arsenal star Maitland-Niles, 23, has become an established member of Southgate's England set-up over the past few months and his international career is hugely important to him.

That is why he would be willing to consider a move in January if it means getting more regular minutes after struggling in recent weeks to get a chance under Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

Premier League clubs are certain to be alerted if Arsenal are willing to do a loan deal in January as Arteta looks to shake up his squad.

Wolvesmade a concrete offer last summer and may look to resurrect their interest in a player who can operate in various positions with midfield being his preferred option but he can also play at full back or wing back.

Atletico Madrid were also linked with Maitland-Niles who made a big impression and became a big favourite with Arsenal fans as he played a key role in their march towards winning the FA Cup last season.

Maitland-Niles filled in at left wing-back, Arteta was grateful for his versatility and publicly said he wanted him to stay at the Emirates despite Wolves' interest in the summer.

But chances have become few and far between in recent weeks and, despite his progression with England, the fear is that his lack of game time at Arsenal may cost him a place at the Euros.

Maitland-Niles has won five senior caps, Southgate rates him highly and looks to have a good chance - as long as he is playing regularly.

The clock is ticking in the transfer window but, with Arsenal bringing Martin Odegaard on loan and also using Cedric Soares as cover in both full back positions, they may consider allowing Maitland-Niles going out on loan to get game time.
