Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has applauded Swiss club Saint Gallen for playing a significant role in his career.

The Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder spent a season on loan with the club, when his career took a significant shift for the best.

During his time at Saint Gallen he had his first call up to the senior team of Ghana, the Black Stars.

“Yes that is a tough decision I made. It was shocking. But I was called to the Black Stars when I was playing for St Gallen. That was amazing," he told Footballmadeinghana.com.

“They made me play like someone who everyone trust. It’s funny. I could not go out without someone worrying me. I made a great season there. St Gallen is one of the club I will never forget in my life”

Following a successful loan stint, the Swiss side wanted to sign the player on a permanent deal or even extend his loan deal.

However, Red Bull Salzburg wanted the Ghanaian more and were quick to extend his contract.

“They wanted me to stay. They wanted me so badly. They did everything possible to make me comeback. The knew I was good and they wanted me to come back,” he said.

“But Red Bull Salzburg knew how good I have become and wanted me back."
