Ghana forward Majeed Waris suffered an injury after limping off in Nantes 3-0 defeat to Saint Etienne in the French Ligue 1 last Friday.
The on-loan Porto forward was replaced in the 68th minute by 19 year old striker Randal Kolo Muani, who was making his debut for the club.
Waris complained of back pains after he was taken off by coach Vahid Halilhodžić.
The Ghana international has been a regular for Nantes since arriving on loan from Portuguese giants Porto.
However, his form has been hampered by injuries.
Meanwhile, after the Ghanaian left the pitch, Nantes collapsed dramatically conceding three goals in the final 18 minutes of the game.
Beric opened the scoring for the homes side in the 72nd minute before Wabi Khazri added the score with 8 minutes to end the game.
Timothee Kolodziejczak completed the rout as Saint Etienne beat Nantes.
