Manchester City are at loggerheads with Opta over Pep Guardiola's 200th win in charge of the club.
The statistics giant claim that the weekend's 2-1 victory over West Ham was the game in which the manager reached his double century.
But City argue that it was achieved three weeks ago in the FA Cup fifth-round win over Swansea, disputing Opta's judgement, according to the Athletic.
The difference in judgement stems from the fact that Opta refuse to count victories on penalties to the official tally.
City claim that the Swansea game brought up 200 and was also Guardiola's 500th win in management.
The Premier League leaders put forward their argument in a meeting with Opta, making the case that tournaments are regularly settled on penalties.
But Opta did not budge and maintain their view that games decided from the penalty spot after full time are not counted.
The difference of opinion over the issue has caused arguments with City before.
Opta say that the win against Swansea was an English record of 15 consecutive wins in all competitions.
But City believe they already broke the record in the 2017-18 season when they managed an incredible 20 victories on the trot.
Game No 12 in that list was a shootout against Wolves in the Carabao Cup, meaning Opta stopped counting and City continued.
Despite the fact that City claim to have already held the record, the club sent out a press release commemorating the 15 in a row - but added that the 20 in a row four years ago was supported by 'leading lawmakers and statisticians'.
The City juggernaut continues to roll on and will reach a remarkable milestone with four more wins.
They would hold the European record for consecutive 90-minute victories, a fact that would be indisputable.
