Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of returning to management - and it's good news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Paris Saint-Germain chiefs will meet with the former Tottenham boss today with the 48-year-old set to be appointed as their new manager after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.
Pochettino has long been linked with taking over at Old Trafford with Solskjaer having come under pressure at different points across the last two seasons. But things are looking up for the Norwegian and fans shared their relief at being able to put the Pochettino rumours to bed.
One supporter wrote: 'Pochettino will NOT be @ManUtd for at least 5 months until @PSG_English get knocked out the Champions League, bottle the league & he gets sacked. Overrated coach, thank god that saga is over (for now).'
Another added: 'Glad he's found a job. European football needs a class act like Pochettino. Another reason for my happiness is the end of stories linking him to my club.'
Pochettino led Tottenham to an unexpected Champions League final in 2019 but failed to win a trophy during his five years in north London.
Some United fans claimed that the Argentine has been 'over-hyped' while others said they were pleased to see him coming back into football, but away from Old Trafford.
One wrote: 'Pochettino is a glorified hype train DONE! I'd rather win absolutely nothing with Ole than to employ Poch for more of the same! You lot are whack seriously.'
Another fan said: 'Pochettino to PSG. He's the only manager I would have wanted. So I can now put that to bed and not be thinking what if.'
However, some Red Devils fans believe Pochettino would have been a perfect fit for the club.
'Pochettino was made for Manchester United don't care what anyone says,' one disgruntled fan wrote.'
Another added: 'Yet again United have missed the bus.
'Sooner or late United will struggle under Ole, and they will have to stick with him as there won't be any suitable candidate then. We are going to regret this big time.'
Tuchel led his side to the Champions League final in August and his dismissal came just hours after their 4-0 league victory over Strasbourg.
While some fans were happy for the Pochettino rumours to come to an end, others suggested Tuchel should be the next man in-line to replace Solskjaer if United opt for a change in the dugout.
'Our primary candidate to replace Solskjaer, Pochettino, is about to join PSG,' one fan said.
'We must swiftly move for Tuchel before he joins another team. He's far better than Solskjaer #MUFC.'
'Tuchel guided #PSG to a 1st place finish in CL group and only a point behind the leaders in the league this season,' another wrote.
'The problem was the team wasn’t playing good. At #MUFC we have a manager who just got us knocked out of CL and we lost 6-1 at home and fans say give him time.'
