Man Utd could replace LVG with former Chelsea boss Mourinho THIS MONTH

Manchester United are believe to be considering the appointment of Jose Mourinho sometime this month.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils hierarchy are pondering the possibility of sacking Louis van Gaal and bringing in former Chelsea boss Mourinho prior to the clash with Arsenal on February 28.

Van Gaal's future at Old Trafford has been further clouded in the wake of Saturday's 2-1 loss to second-bottom Sunderland which could prompt a change in manager in the coming week or so.

The fact van Gaal suggested winning the Europa League was the only way United could qualify for the Champions League this season has raised alarms about the Dutchman's ambitions and could contribute to him losing his job, along with the 41 points from 26 matches - their worst return at this stage of a Premier League season.

The appointment of Mourinho would be welcomed by the Red Devils faithful and it is believed that the Portuguese could quite possibly step int the role within two weeks as United prepare for their Round of 32 Europa double header with Danish champions FC Midtyjlland with a FA Cup fifth round meeting with Shrewsbury Town in between, prior to the league fixture with the Gunners.
