Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Radek Vitek from Czech side Sigma Olomouc.

The 16-year-old goalkeeper is set to join United as a scholar in July after his parent club announced a deal has been signed off by Fifa.

United agreed terms to bring Vitek to the club in January but had to wait for paperwork to be signed before formally completing the deal.

Speaking after Sigma announced the deal, Vitek spoke of his delight at finally becoming a United player.

"It's a surreal feeling, a move to Manchester United is the dream of a lot of guys who start playing football," he told the Czech club's website.

"I'm really looking forward to it. I admit I didn't even believe it when I found out about the club's interest, but now it's definitely a reality.”

Vitek has already represented the Czech Republic at Under-17 level and has also been a regular in the Sigma youth set-up this season.

Sigma's sporting director Ladislav Minar spoke of his pride at the deal and what it means for the club to be nurturing such exciting young talent.

“I am happy to say that Sigma is capable of sending another of its players to a top European club," he said.

“The departure of a player of such a low age is primarily a great prestige, which is a reward not only for the club, but also for the player himself for his hard work.

"Secondly, it is also a financial aspect. If Radek were to play for the Manchester team in the future or move to another club, the financial satisfaction would be of interest to Sigma.”

Vitek joins a growing list of young goalkeepers at the club with Dean Henderson, Kieran O'Hara, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar, Paul Woolston, Jacob Carney, Ondrej Mastny, and Johan Guadagno already on the books.
