Man Utd win puts pressure on title rivals - Lingard

Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard believes Saturday's 2-1 win at Watford will help send a message to the rest of the league.

The Red Devils produced a last-gasp victory over the Hornets courtesy of an injury-time own-goal from Troy Deeney after Memphis Depay had given the visitors the lead and Deeney had equalised from the penalty spot.

The win has seen United move ahead of key rivals Manchester City and Arsenal and even though they sit behind surprise leaders Leicester City, continued positive results will worry those teams around them according to Lingard.

"It's a bit of a statement to the other teams, who will look at this and see we've won," he told ManUtd.com.

"It puts a bit more pressure on them, but it's a good feeling to be back up there.

"I thought it was a scrappy match overall, the conditions didn't help, but we had to keep our concentration throughout and it's great to get the win.

"As long as we win as many games as we can over Christmas, I think we'll be fine."
