Manchester City's derby delight over Manchester United as Arsenal, Chelsea held at home

Manchester City moved back to the top of the table with a 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday, overtaking Liverpool who beat Fulham earlier in the day.

David Silva gave City the lead early on when he smashed in from close range following Bernardo Silva's cut back across the area. Sergio Aguero made it 2-0 just after half time with a ferocious strike into the roof of the net from inside the area.

Anthony Martial pulled one back from the penalty spot to make it 2-1 but United never really looked like repeating their comeback from last season, when they won 3-2 from 2-0 down at the Etihad. Ilkay Gundogan made the game safe four minutes from time when he beat the offside trap to tuck past David De Gea.

United missed Paul Pogba through injury and offered little in attack in the first half, with Marcus Rashford a frustrated figure through the middle.

Jose Mourinho, in his 300th Premier League match as a manager, brought Romelu Lukaku on before the hour mark and he was involved straight away, winning a penalty when he was brought down by Ederson.

Martial stepped up and sent Ederson the wrong way to continue his good form in front of goal but despite the introduction of Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez, United could not find a way back level and Gundogan finished things off late on with a goal following a 44-pass move. City moved 12 points clear of United with the win, with Jose Mourinho's men seven points off the top four.

Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 in controversial circumstances at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah's first half opener coming 14 seconds after Aleksandar Mitrovic's header was ruled out for offside. Replays showed the decision was extremely close and Salah punished Fulham shortly after.

Xherdan Shaqiri doubled the lead in the second half with a well-taken volley from Andrew Robertson's cross to leave Fulham firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

Arsenal's run without a league win stretched to four matches with a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves.

Ivan Cavaleiro handed Wolves a surprise early lead on 13 minutes when he found the bottom right corner from Raul Jimenez's pass.

Arsenal struggled in the first half with Mesut Ozil the only player creating a chance of note. Wolves were heading for a memorable victory but Henrikh Mkhitaryan snatched a draw with a long range strike four minutes from time.

Chelsea and Everton could not be separated in a lively goalless draw at Stamford Bridge as Maurizo Sarri made it 12 matches unbeaten in the Premier League.

The draw meant Sarri set a new managerial record for the best unbeaten run from the start of a Premier League career.

It could have been even better for the Blues but Jordan Pickford did well to deny Marcos Alonso on the volley in the first half and Alonso hit the post after the break.
