Manchester United hero spots key change in Marcus Rashford under Erik ten Hag

Manchester United favourite Andy Cole has outlined the key change Marcus Rashford has made to recapture his best form under Erik ten Hag this season. The 24-year-old struggled, like many others, Old Trafford last term.

Rashford only netted four Premier League goals as United slumped to a sixth-place finish. However, he has nearly matched that tally already this season with three strikes in six appearances, not to mention two assists.

Despite that return, England overlooked the Wythenshawe-born forward when Gareth Southgate named his latest Nations League squad. But could that omission help United moving forward with their own targets this campaign?

During his interview with MUFC media following his appearance in the Legends match, Cole said: "It's nice to see [Rashford doing well]. He's got the confidence back, scoring goals and I think he'll be really happy with that.

"If he can propel Manchester United forward this season, gets us into... I'm not sure what position we are going to end up in exactly, but if we can finish in the top four, that would be good."

Cole added: "It's the first time we've seen Marcus run in behind and stretch teams since he first got into the team. He went away from his strengths [last season], which is stretching the opposition teams.

"If you look at how he's playing now to when he first got into the team, people will turn around to say; 'That's the Marcus Rashford of old'. If he sticks to that, he'll score goals."

Rashford progressed through the famed Old Trafford system and made his senior bow back in 2016. Since then, the left-sided forward has scored 96 goals and provided 60 assists for the club in all competitions; playing 309 matches and being capped 46 times by England over that same time-frame.
