English Premier League giants Manchester United are ready to meet the  £10.45m transfer release clause for Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu.

The 21-year-old Ghanaian ticks all the boxes for a high-profile move after impressing on his debut season in the Spanish top-flight.

He made 27 appearances (featured in the starting XI in all but one match) before the suspension of the league due to La Liga.

Salisu's agent is Juan Mata Sr, whose son Juan Mata plays for Manchester United, and that has brightened the chances of the centre back moving to Old Trafford.

In an interview with Vipdeportivo, he said: "This may be the window of Salisu.

"It is another very young and African discovery, which this year has been the sensation of the league because at only 21 years old, 6ft 2in, left footed and playing central, in this category it is not easy.

"The truth is that I think this may be his window because many interests have arisen from many clubs and he deserves it.''

Salisu has been given just two yellows this season, scored a goal, provided an assist and committed just 17 fouls - one every 118 minutes.
