Manchester United will miss their striker Danny Nii Tackie Welbeck for Sunday's tough Premier League match against Chelsea because of injury.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that the 22-year-old, who was born to Ghanaian parents. will not be involved in the Old Trafford encounter, when Paul Scholes is expected to return.

The Red Devils chief has revealed that 22-year-old England international striker, Welbeck, will play no part in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford because of knee trouble.

"Danny is out for Sunday," Ferguson said. "We hope to have Paul Scholes on the bench to get him back in the fray."

Scholes has been missing since January with a knee injury and it is widely anticipated he will call time on his career at the end of the season.

And Ferguson has already pencilled the 38-year-old in for next weekend's clash with Swansea.

"I would love him to play in the Swansea game," the Scot said.
