Manchester United will not play Kotoko in pre-season

Manchester United will not play against Asante Kotoko in their pre-season tour of South Africa.

In April, the Ghanaian champions claimed they would play the dethroned English Premier League champions in a pre-season.

But Manchester United have confirmed they will rather play AmaZulu and Ajax Cape Town next month.

"The training camp and matches in South Africa will be an important part of our preparations for the 2012/13 season and an excellent chance to renew our acquaintance with our loyal and enthusiastic fans in South Africa," said United chief executive David Gill.

Kotoko have been invited to play in a four-club tournament in honour of former South Africa president Nelson Mandela.
