Manolas: Roma don’t fear anyone

Kostas Manolas has declared Roma will put everything into the game against Real Madrid without fearing the opposition.

The Giallorossi take on the Spanish giants this week in the last 16 of the Champions League and the Greek defender insists the side will be highly motivated for the match.

“We know Real are a great team full of superstars, but we must remain focused,” Manolas said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the match.

“When you face such a great team you have to play at 100%, but we’re strong and we don’t fear anyone.

“You’re always motivated playing against Real because you’re coming up against the best players in the world.

“I believe we need to show spirit and prove that we’re equal to them on the pitch.”

Manolas then spoke about his own role in the side and the Giallorossi’s defence as a whole.

“As for my fitness, I’m feeling in great condition,” Manolas added.

“The decision to play three or four at the back is down to the coach.

“Three defenders or four doesn’t make a difference to me, we’re here to help the team to get a result.”

“We’ve conceded different kinds of goals in the Champions League this season, but it’s not only up to four or five players in a team to defend. It’s not just the defence’s fault that we’ve let in 16 goals.

“I have a lot of faith and if the gaffer picks me I will give everything I’ve got. I hope to help my team to pick up a positive result.”
