Maritzburg new signing Awal open to Kotoko return

Published on: 04 August 2012

Defender Awal Mohammed says he will return to play for former side Asante Kotoko if he is unsuccessful at Maritzburg United.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the South African top flight side where he joins compatriots Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi ahead of the start of the PSL season.

Awal however says he has Kotoko engraved in his heart and will not hesitate to return to the Kumasi-based club if his move to Maritzburg fails to work out.

"I ask for supporters of Asante Kotoko to keep supporting me and praying for me," Awal stated.

"Kotoko will forever be in my heart but it happens I have to leave and ply my trade elsewhere.

"But if things don't work out I will not hesitate in coming back to Kotoko, that is fore sure.''

Awal only joined Kotoko in 2011 from Feyernoord Academy after spending some time on loan at Ivorian club Asec Mimosas.
