Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori has commended his Maritzburg United teammates for their superb performance in their goalless draw against Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League last Saturday.

Pirates were looking to maintain their lead at the top of the standings having drawn 0-0 with Mamelodi Sundowns in their last league game.

But they were frustrated by Maritzburg United as the visitors secure a valuable point after drawing goalless.

Ofori who impressed as well after the game noted that his mates played one of their greatest games ever.

“We knew they would come at us. They are the form team in the league at the moment. I will congratulate my players because they did a wonderful job,” Ofori told SuperSport TV.

“When they came at us, we needed to stay in our half to defend very well and we did very well. So it’s a very great game for us and we knew that if we deliver, things would go well for us.”

Ofori further revealed that he knew the intentions of Pirates attacker Thembinkosi Lorch as he proved equal to the task when the South African tried a delicate long drive.

“Ja, it was very fantastic because the time they started the game they knew I always play as the last man.

“So I was careful about it and he did very well to try it. What I wanted to say is that we need to work hard to take Maritzburg forward.”

Ofori has been Maritzburg’s best player so far this season as they continue their fight away from the relegation area.
