MARKET TRANSFER - Laporte agrees deal with City

Published on: 03 April 2016

Manchester United’s bid to add a central defender to their squad this summer has been dealt a hammer blow. Aymeric Laporte has already reportedly held talks with Manchester United over a £40million move and Jose Mourinho is said to be a big fan of the player. Express Sport understands the Portuguese boss expects to take over from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford this summer and Laporte is high on his list of priorities. But according to Italian journalist Gianluca Dimarzio, Laporte has already agreed to head to rivals Manchester City because of his desire to work with incoming manager Pep Guardiola. The Bayern boss is set to take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season and City are expected to match United’s £40m bid and Laporte will then choose the blue side of Manchester over the red.
