Berekum Chelsea kept their Premier League title ambitions on track with a smooth 2-0 victory over Liberty Professionals at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Former Ghana youth international Paul Aidoo fired the Blues ahead with a sensational 51st minute effort before Kofi Owusu perpetuated his swashbuckling form with his third in two games in the 63rd minute.

Chelsea went into the game knowing they could pile pressure on AshantiGold SC who had to overcome city-rivals New Edubiase United.

Liberty’s defensive shield managed to hold Chelsea’s front-men for the first department but they could not prolong their rearguard as Aidoo stole his way through and shot home the opener.

The goal unsettled the visitors and their play pattern was disturbed by the blazing home fans who knew their club had come close to chasing table-toppers AshantiGold.

One moment of brilliance inspired by Owusu saw him score his third goal in three days after romping through the Lads defence and firing home from close.
