Match Report: Dreams FC 1-1 Wa All Stars - Wahidu Mumuni's artful free kick dominates Dawu stalemate
Dreams FC drew with Wa All Stars

Wa All Stars snatched a point from the Theater of Dreams after squeezing holding the Dreams FC to a 1-1 pulsating stalemate in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Emmanuel Lomotey fired Dreams upfront at the Theater of Dreams but Wahidu Mumuni picked his spot with an artful free-kick 12 minutes from the break.

Lomotey's strike broke the myth around the defence of the Upper West Region-based side who had not conceded a goal in their opening three games.

Both C K Akunnor and his All Stars counterpart named strong sides seeking the maximum points from the game.

Aaron Amoah stepped in for the suspended Emmanuel Hayford while All Stars had Maxwell Baako and the powerful Richard Arthur in their attack.

Despite an early fight off by the visitors it was the hosts who opened the scoring through Emmanuel Lomotey who latched onto an unintended pass supplied by a defensive scramble and he arrowed it with a fierce half-volley.

Dreams perpetuated their dominance in midfield and took the game to the visitors whose attacking potency was absent with Maxwell Baako curtained as supplies were gagged.

But that could not deter All Stars from getting the equalizer. Baako won a free-kick was on the right, Walidu took the challenge and bent a breathtaking free-kick to the top root corner with Mozart Adjetey stretched to his elastic limits.

Recess was noteworthy as moments before kick off. Home and travelling fans were inspired by the presence of hip-life legend Reggie Rockstone who attended the game with a group of smashy ladies.

Black Stars head coach Avram Grant who attended the game spoke gave a brief insight about the game with live interview on SuperSport TV.

All Stars's ambitions to grabbed all three points soared early in the second-half as Richard Arthur saw his effort skit just wide after beating Adjetey.

C K Akunnor introduced the experienced Eric Gawu to take the place of former Ghana U17 star Aaron Amoah and the former Hearts of Oak brought some urgency into the hosts strikeforce.

His first involvement came in blistering move on the right which saw him outpace an All Stars defender and swung in an incisive cross for Bekui. The striker met it well with a diving header but Richard Ofori stopped his effort with a steady grab.

Abdul Bashiru produced the best move in the halve when he steered through three All Stars defenders before unleashing a thunderous drive from just inside the box. But Ofori responded with a world-class save to send a signal to his national team coach.
