Match Report: Hasaacas 4-2 Techiman City FC - Eric Bekoe announces return with stunning brace as majestic Hasmal claim nervy win
Sekondi Hasaacas hammered Techiman City FC

An impressive-looking Sekondi Hasaacas resisted a nightmarish Techiman City side to record a 4-2 win in at the Essipong Stadium in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Former league Golden Shoe Award winner Eric Bekoe hit a brace to announce his return to the Ghanaian top-flight while substitute Prince Papa-Arko headed home late in the late to nail City's coffin.

But it was right-back Amos Korankye who raced Hasmal into the lead out of the blue.

The local Black Stars defender hammered an astonishing free kick from 30 yards on the 8th minute mark.

Bekoe registered his first goal of the campaign from the spot in the 35th minute to cushion the lead for the host to calm down home fans who were watching their 187th home game in the top-flight.

Bekoe struck again in the 50th minute from 25 yards to highlight his scoring credentials.

The 29-year-old powered home with poachers instinct from a set-piece.

Razak Iddrisu - the Techiman City goalkeeper who was voted the best keeper in the Division One last season, was left distraught as Korankye's ball sailed unstoppably into his net.

But saved a Daniel Egyir penalty with a great technique in the 31st minute.

Build-up was disturbed by a down pour which also affected attendance on an afternoon when a pacey and entertaining game was sold out by both sides.

Hasaacas coach Yusif Basigi paraded an experienced side upfront featuring Eric Bekoe and Samuel Afful.

While his compatriot Yusif Abubakar relied on the dexterity of Baba Mahama in attacking midfield. But the youngster was contained well by the host defence.

It was Hasaacas who piled all the pressure upfront and continue to work the Techiman City defenders tired.

City's attack in the opening 30 minutes was non-existent and failed to offer any real threat for the hosts except a Bright Nsiah innocuous strike which was coolly collected by the Hasaacas goalie in the opening minutes of the tie.

Issaka Ibrahim, who tried out with Hearts of Oak before his move to the Brong Ahafo side, was mostly closed down on the left flank.

And while the new boys were working to spit venom on the host, Eric Bekoe nearly nailed the second goal of the game.

The former Asante Kotoko striker, being played a deceitful role, showed up to punch a shot which went just wide.

The former Ghana Premier League Golden Shoe Award winner dummied two City defenders on the 31st minute mark and laced in Afful.

The ex-Ghana U20 attacker dragged a powerful low drive which was stopped by Iddrisu with basic goalkeeping skills.

Richmond Opoku won a clean penalty for Hasmal in the 33rd minute but Daniel Egyir saw his kick diverted to corner by Razak Iddrisu.

Opoku had picked up a pass from Isaac Acheampong and dazzled five City defenders inside the area before he was felled.

But the miss was soon erased from memory as another opportunity arrived another Bright Nsiah was penalized for handling a ball inside the box.

Bekoe stepped up and planted a firm half-volley to the right side of the post with Iddrisu steering to opposite way.

Bekoe registered the third goal for Hasmal and his personal second on the afternoon after driving home an inviting set-piece.

City registered their consolation through substitute Yusif Agyarko.

Baba Mahama did lightworks on three Hasmal defenders to play through Agyarko and the youngster picked his spot with a rasping drive from the edge of the box.

Hasmal could have scored more but Korankye saw his effort from close range scale off the crossbar before going wide.

But Baba Mahama further cut down the deficit for the visitors. He picked up a scrappy ball from the edge of the area, battled off challenges from the Hasmal defence amidst a forest of legs, and sent a stunning volley home with goalkeeper George Owu rooted to his spot.

Former Kotoko striker Prince Papa-Arko headed in a Samuel Afful cross from the left to tilt the tie in Hasmal's favour.
