Inter Allies left it late to claim a slim 1-0 win over visiting West African Football Academy side in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday afternoon at the Tema Park.

Bullish attacker Frederick Boateng struck the winner in stoppage-time for the under-performing side to fire them to a crucial victory.

Neither of the sides failed to make use of the avalanche of chances created within the exchanges but Boateng struck late in the game to win the tie hosts.

Allies head coach Jimmy Cobbinah lined up former Saudi-based forward Isaac Osae and rockie attacker Frederick Boateng in his frontline.

His WAFA counterpart Akpakpo Patron assembled Gideon Waja, Martin Antwi, Caleb Amankwa and Togo international Komlan Agbegniadan in an exciting line up at the Tema Park.

WAFA's Mohammed Alhassan went into the referee's pocket for a bad challenge in the 3rd minute.

Frederick Opoku Yamoah was also penalized on the 26th minute mark for fouling a WAFA midfielder.

Neither of the sides was able to lay claim of dominance in the opening half hour.

The last ten minutes of the first department belong to Allies who mounted pressure on the Academy Boys. Isaac Osae, whose experience in the top-flight includes playing with second-tier side Heart of Lions, failed to bury his effort into Razak Abalora's net in the 36th minute.

Allies perpetuated their search for the opener after the break but WAFA remained resolute at the back.

Cobbinah withdrew Evans Mensah and replaced him with Isaac Twum who exerted more pressure on the visitors with his pace and technique.

WAFA responded with a number of changes by introducing Ibrahim Tanko to take the place of Martin Antwi.

Sulley Mohammed was thrown in to chase a goal for the home side but his impact was low until the game petered out.
