Match Report: Inter Allies 2-0 Aduana Stars - Isaac Twum dazzling finish dominates talking point

Published on: 21 February 2016

Inter Allies perpetuated their dominance over Aduana Stars at the Tema Park after edging them 2-0 in the opening day of the Ghanaian season.

Allies took the lead through Ropapa Mensah in the 19th minute before Ghana youth midfielder Isaac Twum scored a spectacular goal five minutes before the break.

Aduana had dominated proceedings but failed to make useful meaning of their frequency in the Allies third. Even defensively the Fire club were superior - Godfred Saka's impressive tackle on Ropapa drew applauds from the watching fans.

However Ofosuhene pipped the pocket of Seth Opare with his pace and chicanery. The former FC Porto starlet then sent in a sweet cross which Ropapa met with a diving header to beat Joseph Addo in the Aduana goal.

Aduana tried to force their ways into the game with Yahaya Mohammed attempting free-kicks which were all stopped by the hosts keeper.

Isaac Twum put his name on the score-sheet in the 39th minute. A moment of breath-taking display saw Ropapa turned the architect for Twum with a dummy and the former Ghana U17 midfielder paced through the box and send home an innocuous effort with Addo already committed.

Marquee acquisitions - Zakari Mumuni (signed from WAFA), Richard Mpong from Kotoko, Noah Martey (Bechem United’s top scorer for last season) and the ambidextrous Yahaya Mohammed in the Fire Club's squad for the clash.

The experienced Daniel Darkwah travelled with the squad on Thursday while Godfred Saka and Stephen Adams returned to their boyhood home with Yahaya Mohammed.

Allies were well aware of the quality of their guests' squad and how the depletion of their squad is going to have an impact on their ability to repeat last season's performance against the title-favourites.

Aduana had not returned from Tema with victory in their last two visits with their last trip bringing a 2-0 reverse.
