WAFA SC staged a strong back to hand Berekum Chelsea a shock 2-1 defeat at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Eric Asamany, top scorer for the Academy Boys, snatched the match winner in injury time to end two straight defeats.

It was the 2011 champions who took the lead in the first half from the spot, but the Sogakope-based stayed afloat and levelled things up in the second half.

Sampson Agyapong handled the ball inside the box and referee Wiseman Ghansah pointed to the spot.

Striker Stephen Amankona stepped up and converted from 12 yards to give the hosts the lead.

In the second half, WAFA made two quick changes by introducing Prosper Ahiabu and Jalilu Haruna Mola.

These substitutions brought some stability and tightened play for the academy side.

After 72 minutes, the Chelsea defence struggled to clear inside their area and captain Abukari Ibrahim fired from for the leveller.

WAFA quickly made another substitution by bringing in the impressive youngster Daniel Owusu for Sampson Agyapong and that tactical switch helped protect the one point gained.

In the 94th minute, Asamany popped up to seal the match against the run of play.
