Ghana striker Matthew Amoah returned from the treatment room and made a cameo for Herecles in their 2-1 home defeat to his former side Heerenveen on Friday night in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Amoah came on in the 81st minute to replace defender Milano Koenders but compatriot Kwame Quansah played the entire duration.

Dutch-born Ghanaian teenager Edwin Gyasi was an unused substitute for Heracles.

The 31-year-old has been absent for two weeks due to illness and missed matches against PEC Zwolle and PSV.

Amoah has made 12 Eredivise appearances including three starts and has scored one goal.
