Maxwell Konadu insists Ahmed Toure has not been unfairly treated at the club, praising the ‘fantastic talent’ of the striker whom he expects to be involved next season.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Champions for the past few weeks having falling down the pecking order last season.

There were murmurings of discontent from the Ivorian attacker, who scored 8 goals to emerge the clubs leading marksman last term.

He has lashed out at the coach, accusing him of treating him poorly and making him feel like an outcast.

But the Black Stars assistant coach has defended his handling of the former Asec Mimosa striker.

“He’s a fantastic talent. When he is normal and opens up, he is such a great guy,” Konadu told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“He likes cracking jokes and so I don’t have any problem with him at all. I want everybody to know that Kotoko is the biggest star. We should see Kotoko as the biggest star.

“When you begin to see yourself as the star of the team, you begin to do some things without recognizing it. That is when people begin to see you as placing your personal interest at the expense of the team.

“But if you see the team as the star, everybody will humble themselves and we’ll work together.

“I have had lots of complaints. Not one or twice.  Not even about Ahmed Toure alone. But about Ben Acheampong.

“Some of the players felt his attitude had changed since he earned a call-up into the national team. I called him (Acheampong) and spoke with him.

He added: “Everybody must be humble and work hard. When they were not at Kotoko, they trained extra hard to be recognized.

“When we don’t work hard, teams will come and surprise us every day and that’s what happened to us against Berekum Chelsea.

“I don’t hate players. Bad character is what I detest. If you think you can stay away from training and get a chance in the team, then you are deceiving yourself.”
