Medeama coach Bashir Hayford refused to comment on the performance of the center referee in their 2-1 league defeat to Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Referee O.B Amankwa was the subject for taking some dodgy decisions in the game played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Players and officials of Medeama rushed onto the pitch in protest of the second Hearts goal- saying the free kick leading to the goal was unjust.

Hearts’ camp also had cause to protest against the referee after denying them what looked a clear penalty late in the game but Hayford insists he leaves the verdict on the referee’s performance to the general public.

“I will not talk about the referee. I believe all of you watched the game and therefore I leave that judgment to you,” he told journalists after the game.

“I will only talk about the tactical side of my team, that is what I am competent at and will not offer any thought on the referee.”

O.B Amankwa’s name has been heavily linked to an immediate summon to the Ghana FA’s Referee Review Panel to be punished for his inconsistent performance on Sunday.
