Medeama coach relieved after laboured win

Medeama coach Bashir Hayford was a relieved man after seeing his side record a narrow 1-0 win over Ashantigold.

Defender Otuo Acheampong scored the only goal of the match after just two minutes from a glancing header.

Coach Hayford came under intense pressure from the club’s teeming supporters following recent unimpressive performances.

But after seeing his side beat the miners at their own backyard, the ex-Asante Kotoko trainer claims he has been vindicated.

“I have said that we need to remain patience. I know the quality of the players that we have,” Hayford said

“But in a season, you don’t expect to have an easy ride right from start to finish, you may encounter difficulty on the way.

“That’s why I kept saying we should be patient and thankfully we managed to win at a very difficult place.

“I feel vindicated and will hope that we’ll continue from here.”

Medeama will host Heart of Lions at home on Sunday December 2.
