Medeama have issued a statement denying that defender Kwabena Edusei is about to join Asante Kotoko.

The official newspaper of the Premier League Champions claimed on Friday that both parties had reached an agreement with the player expected to put pen to paper on a mouth-watering deal.

But a statement on the club's website has denied the story and insists they are well wide off the mark.

“Our attention has been drawn to a publication in the Kotoko Express that sought to give the false impression that our defender Kwabena Edusei has been sold to the club,”

“We have to put on record that we have not reached an agreement with Kotoko over Edusei,”

“We can confirm that some sort of discussion has gone on but nothing concrete has been reached to trigger the sale of the player,”

“Our fans should be re-assured that the best interest of the player and the club will be taken into consideration in arriving at a final decision.”

Edusei played an instrumental role for the Mauves and Yellows in their top-four finish where he scored six goals as a central defender.
