Ghana's No. 1

Mensah confident of adequate replacement for Kevin Boateng

Published on: 24 March 2011

Ghana captain John Mensah says there are talented players in the Black Stars to adequately replace Kevin Prince Boateng ahead of Sunday’s vital African Cup of Nations against Congo.

The AC Milan midfielder pulled out of the match in Brazzaville claiming he aggravated an ankle injury after the end of the weekend’s clash with Palermo.

Despite the absence of Boateng, Mensah insists there are players in the squad who can do the job perfectly.

“There are many players in the squad who can play and are focused to do the job for mother Ghana on Sunday,” Mensah said.

“We are focused and there are many talented players who can play so we are not worried about his (Boateng) absence.”

Ghana must best Congo to brighten their chances of reaching the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
