Mensah helping Ferdinand to improve

Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand feels he will become a better player playing alongside Ghana centre-back John Mensah.

Ferdinand admits there has been a process of adjustment when the two were put together, but says the transition should not be too much of a problem.

And Mensah is class is making the job of moving from right back to centre-half an easier one.

"We're both professionals and we both know our jobs," Ferdinand told safc.com.

"Obviously we have had to get to know each other's style of play, but that comes with games.

"It's a honour to play alongside the captain of Ghana and a player of that stature and calibre.

"I can only learn from someone like John Mensah and I'm just happy to be playing."
