Ghanaian defender Sam Mensah was sent off in Ostersunds’ 3-1 defeat to Varberg on Saturday – where Isaac Shaze also made a triumphant return to first team action.

Mensah got was shown a straight red card in the 19th minute thereby weakening his side just five minutes after drawing parity through Ammar Ahmed.

The one-man disadvantage proved costly for Graham Potter’s side as they went on to lose their Swedish second tier game to their visitors.

The game however marked the return of midfielder Isaac Telly Shaze to first team action after recovering from a knee injury sustained during pre-season.

The Right to Drteam Academy had missed the start of the Supperretan but came through 21 minutes of action unscathed as a second half substitute for Jonas Desai.

Ostersunds also had fellow Ghanaian Thomas Boakye in their starting lineup that suffered defeat at the hands of Varberg.

The crashing home defeat sees Ostersunds remain in mid-table ahead of the remainder of the league fixtures on Sunday.
