Michael Essien's Chelsea future will not be decided until the club have named a new boss, according to the player's agent.

Roberto Di Matteo is currently in charge as interim manager until the end of the season, when a new boss will be named for next season’s campaign.

With the future uncertain on the midfielder’s career at the Blues, rumors have spread of a possible move to Italy with Serie A side Juventus.

The 29-year-old has suffered a troubling season at Stamford Bridge with injuries that have seen him struggling for form.

However, the player’s agent Fabien Piveteau has stated nothing will be decided yet on his clients future until after a new manager is appointed.

Piveteau told Calciomercato: “Right now there is nothing and I have not heard from any Italian club.

"Is he happy at Chelsea? He is going through a difficult time but only because he has come back from a serious injury."

He added, "I have spoken to Chelsea and they said they are happy but in football you can't guarantee what happens in the future.

“He has three years left on his contract but it depends on who will coach Chelsea in the summer."
