Michael Helegbe eyeing explosive season with Kotoko

Former Ghana Olympic team captain Michael Helegbe says he has fixed his sight firmly on impressing on his debut season with Asante Kotoko.

The former Liberty Professionals captain, 27, joined the league champions in the second half of last season but was limited to the stands due to late registeration.

Helegbe has been in impressive shape for Kotoko in their pre-season warm-up friendlies setting two goals.

The former Guingamp midfielder hopes to translate his international experience and fine display to Kotoko's season.

"Kotoko is a big club in both Ghana and Africa so it demands something extra to play for the team. I have been here since last season and played with the team in pre-season friendlies." He said.

"I want to impress in both the domestic and continental campaigns and make my way back into the national team hopefully." He added.

Helegbe acknowledges Berekum Chelsea and Hearts of Oak's could stage a real challenge for the title which his side won last season.

"Chelsea have shown what they can do in the Caf Champions League competition. They have a strong team with quality players same with Hearts of Oak. So we have to work really hard to achieve our goals for the season." He ended.

Helegbe has one Ghana senior cap.
