Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Helegbe has set his eyes on helping the club to retain the Premier League crown next season.

The 27-year-old will mark his league debut for the Champions next season after staying out of action for six months.

He joined the Kumasi-based club after the completion of January transfer window but the club tried unsuccessfully to have him cleared.

The former Liberty Professionals captain has his eyes fixed on helping the club to increase their trophy cabinet.

"I am a member of Team Kotoko and so everything I do or say should be geared towards making the team stronger,” Helegbe said

“We are the champions and so a lot of pressure will be on us to defend the title. It is not going to come easy but I believe we will work hard at it,”

“We have to continue with our winning mentality going into the new season because that will help us do well in Africa as well.”
